KUALA LUMPUR (politicsnowmy.blogspot.com) - The statements issued by nine former Presidents of the Bar expressing concern over interference by the current govt in the appointments of judges is a damning indictment of Anwar Ibrahim as PM.
There you go. When I suggested he should resign over the addendum issue, you said I was extreme
Now, even the whole judiciary is threatened, described by the nine Bar Presidents as far worse than under Dr Ms's rule. That is saying something
I now urge the Opposition leader, Hamzah Zainuddin, to move a motion in Parliament for the government to extend the services of the current Chief Justice Tengku Maimum, by 5 years.
Although judges retire at 66, the government can seek the King's agreement to extend her services by contract.
That’s the only way we can retain her reign, keeping the judiciary independent and, more importantly, ensuring the best judges are promoted on merit.
This motion will pass because the majority of MPs want credible, smart and independent Judges to protect them.
