Anymore secrets Anwar, DAP & Umno keeping on MAHB sale to pro-Israel BlackRock? 2 crucial contradictions & a buy-high, sell-low strategy
Written by Saw Yee Fung
KUALA LUMPUR (politicsnowmy.blogspot.com) - The MAHB shares sales issue by EPF has devolved into more confusion after the Minister’s question time (MQT) in the Dewan Rakyat on 20 February 2025, when the Finance Minister II (MK2) provided two different pieces of information that contradict the official statement by EPF on 3 March 2024.
As raised earlier by MCA President, Datuk Seri Ir. Dr. Wee Ka Siong, on 17 February 2025, the Ministry of Finance, through a written reply, stated that throughout 2023, EPF sold MAHB shares at prices ranging from RM5.40 to RM7.36 per share, generating an income of RM100.7 million for EPF.
However, on 20 February 2025, MK2 informed the Dewan Rakyat during the MQT session that the MAHB shares were sold between RM6.80 and RM7.70, recording a profit of RM102 million.
These two differing answers are deeply concerning and raise questions about the integrity and transparency of both the government and EPF.
As a government that regularly promotes transparency, efficiency, and accountability in its administration, this contradiction serves a serious blow to the image of the government, which is already tarnished due to the implementation of numerous financial policies deemed burdensome unto citizens, such as the removal of several subsidies and the spike in electricity tariffs.
Moreover, the sale of MAHB shares which involves the savings of 16.1 million EPF contributors, understandably raises concerns about the transparency and integrity regarding the management of their retirement funds.
The government’s failure to align their answers undermines public confidence and gives the impression that the government is not taking this issue seriously.
Furthermore, MK2 also provided a different reply compared to EPF regarding investment profits for 2023, reporting RM63.48 billion, as opposed to EPF which reported RM66.99 billion.
MCA Youth hopes that the Minister or EPF will provide the correct information in the near future to avoid negative perceptions from permeating among the public, especially since the statements were made in the august chambers of the Dewan Rakyat.
As of to-date, the government still has not responded to the MCA President's question regarding the "Chinese Wall" and "Above the Wall" in the MAHB share transaction to determine if there were elements of power abuse.
