NAZIR RAZAK WEDS AGAIN - THIS TIME TO COSMETICS ENTREPRENEUR YATI ZAINUDDIN - WILL SECOND MARRIAGE FINALLY ACTIVATE A POLITICAL CAREER - OR DOES IT MEAN 'EARLY RETIREMENT FOR NAJIB'S YOUNGEST BROTHER

KUALA LUMPUR (Politics Now!) - Well-known public figure Nazir Razak, the former chief of CIMB Bank and the brother of disgraced former prime minister Najib Razak, has married again - this time to cosmetics entrepreneur Yati Zainuddin.

The 56-year-old Nazir was formerly married to Azlina Aziz, with whom he had two children. They divorced earlier this year.

Nazir is also the youngest son of the country's second prime minister Abdul Razak Hussein. He was educated at the University of Bristol, where he obtained a Bachelor of Science, and University of Cambridge, where he obtained a Masters in Philosophy.

Considered a member of Malaysia's elite ruling class, Nazir has been outspoken on many current and political issues. He has rooted for a multiracial Malaysia, although the trend in recent years has titled sharply to the right where calls for a Malay-dominated government has won favour with Malay voters, the largest electorate in the country.

Due to Nazir's background, there are expectations he might eventually venture into politics - especially given the current political stagnancy in the country and the sharp lack of good leaders to take the country forward. So far, apart from making public his view, Nazir has refrained from active politics.

CONGRATULATIONS POUR IN

Meanwhile, congratulations poured in for Nazir and his new bride Yati, whom he has described as an old friend that he had met during his student days in the U.K.

Among the first to wish him well was his nephew, Norashman Najib.

"Congrats Uncle Jay@nazir.razak," said Norsashman on Instagram on Friday (Nov 17).

Not to be outdone was 'bestie' Tony Fernandez, the AirAsia boss.

"Getting ready to look beautiful for my bestie for his big day," said Fernandez.
