'MALAYSIAN BANK CEOs EARN IN ONE YEAR WHAT THEIR STAFF WOULD EARN ONLY AFTER WORKING 1,000 YEARS' - UNION TO GO ON NATIONWIDE PICKETS AGAINST 'OUTRAGEOUS' BANK BOSSES
Written by J Solomon
KUALA LUMPUR (politicsnowmy.blogspot.com) - NUBE launches a series of nationwide pickets against all banks to protest the increasingly outrageous ways in which the CEOs of the banks are committing union busting.
The bank CEOs have denied the following rights:
1. RIGHT to work life balance.
2. RIGHT to be FREE from bullying, discrimination, harassment and sexual harassment.
3. RIGHT to “job security”.
4. RIGHT to be FREE from Union-Busting.
5. RIGHT to attend HRDC and other trainings on paid leave to be reskilled and upskilled.
6. RIGHT to fair remuneration.
7. RIGHT to participate in Union work without suffering any loss.
8. RIGHT to 2% SST paid for workers’ family medical insurance.
A significant number of the banks are government linked companies who are acting contrary to their purpose of existence. Local and foreign owned banks, emboldened by the GLCs example, are also becoming blatant in their transgressions against the rights of the workers. Regulatory bodies, however, are silent of their misconduct, favoring the oppressors.
The bank CEOs annual earning is what NUBE members will earn only after working 1000 years. Such outrageous earnings do not place the CEOs in a caste above the working class.
NUBE members may be earning less than the CEOs, nevertheless, equal human rights are for all, and we demand such equal human rights, not to be treated as slaves.
These bank CEOs have been continuously transgressing established processes, procedure, norms and international labour conventions, in their interactions and negotiations with NUBE.
It is not a coincidence that recent news reports are revealing a drastic increase in scams and fraud. Malaysia has also been placed as the second worst country in the world in terms of work-life balance.
If the CEOs continue to act as masters and demand that the working class abide by everything that they say, it is a premeditated enslavement of the working class.
No citizen of a sovereign nation should abide by being continuously treated in such a slave-like manner, especially in their own home and country.
We seek the support of our customers during the picket, and trust that the customers understand that our fight to instill justice and respect for workers,
