MALAYSIA WINS FIRST GOLD MEDAL AS HANGZHOU ASIAN GAMES SURPASSES THE OLYMPICS IN SIZE FOR THE FIRST TIME IN HISTORY - JUBILANT ASIANS CHEER DESPITE THE STONY SILENCE FROM A SOUR-GRAPES WESTERN MEDIA

KUALA LUMPUR (Politics Now!) Malaysia has won its first gold medal from the Hangzhou Asian Games, which is now larger than the Olympic games despite the deliberate cold shoulder from the Western media which has maintained the lowest coverage possible amid escalating U.S.-China rivalry.

A record 12,500 athletes took part in this year’s 19th Asian Games in Hangzhou. This means the Hangzhou games is even bigger than the Olympics, where only 11.420 athletes took part at Tokyo 2020.

On Wednesday, Malaysia was among the countries to celebrate after sailor sailor Nur Shazrin Abdul Latiff bagged the ILCA 6 gold at the Xiangshan Sailing Centre today (Sept 27).

The 25-year-old completed 11 races with a net point of 25 points to win her first gold in the Asian Games.

Hong Kong's Stephanie Norton finished second with 37 net points, while Singapore's Victoria Chan took bronze with 38 points. In sailing, the ones with the lowest net points from 10 races will win the event.

It has been revealed that 45 National Olympic Committees (NOCs) affiliated to the Olympic Council of Asia had entered more than 12,500 athletes for the Hangzhou games, which began on September 23 and will end on October 8.

The previous Asian Games record was 11,300 athletes who took part in the last edition in Jakarta and Palembang in 2018.
